Below are our top 10 donations that really help bring in money for the food bank. We are incredibly grateful for all gently used donations, meaning nothing that’s broken, stained, has tears, or holes. The items below are in our highest demand at the thrift store.
Furniture 6. Jewelry
Collectibles 7. Books
Housewares 8. DVD’s
Clothing 9. Linens
Décor 10. Work and Gardening Tools
Following with Jeanie Ovenell’s vision, all our proceeds support the Food Bank. We are primarily volunteer based with only two paid staff members. Keeping our expenses down is very important to us. You can help by donating gently used items during our donation hours of 10am – 3pm Monday – Saturday. Items left after hours often are stolen or ruined by the weather. If we are unable to sell an item due to poor condition it is the Food Bank that pays for the dumpster cost.
There are times, especially during yard sale season, when we have to put our “No Donations” sign out. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Our volunteers work diligently to get the current donations priced and on the floor so that we can turn that sign around to “Donations Gladly Accepted”. Whether you donate a small bag or a houseful of items we offer a receipt for your tax records.
We don’t just accept donations at the back of our store. If your donations are too much to fit into your vehicle we’re happy to go and pick them up from your house. Our volunteer drivers will come right to your door and do all the heavy lifting. We just ask for a small donation towards the cost of gas so that we can continue to pick up food for our food bank clients.
